Job summary

Majha Constructions Inc. is seeking a carpenter for on-site work in Winnipeg, MB. The role involves preparing layouts, measuring and cutting wood and other materials, and assembling structures in compliance with building codes.

You will build foundations, install floors, walls and roofs, fit windows and doors, and guide apprentices. English language required; secondary school diploma and 1–7 months experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
• 1 to less than 7 months experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Prepare tenders and quotations.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Survey building locations and levels.
• Instruct apprentices.
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.
