Job summary

A & J Sekhon Construction Ltd is seeking a carpenter to perform a range of wooden construction tasks in Surrey, BC. The role involves reading blueprints, building foundations, erecting walls and roof systems, and installing windows and doors at a fixed location.

Experience required is 1 year to less than 2 years, with secondary school graduation. This is permanent, full-time work with various day parts including mornings and evenings. Starts as soon as possible.

Qualifications

• Secondary school completion is required.
• 1 year to less than 2 years of carpentry experience.
• Work must be performed at the physical location; no remote work.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.
