Job summary

Lydale Restoration is seeking a personable Carpenter to help rebuild homes damaged by fire or flood. You will work within a reconstruction team handling drywall, painting, carpentry, and installation tasks, with training provided to broaden skills.

This full-time role requires physical fitness, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to participate in on-call rotations to support 24/7 emergency services. Benefits include health coverage and career advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of Handyman/Carpenter experience, with drywall and painting work.
  • Physical ability to bend, reach, lift 50 pounds repeatedly and stand for long periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle capable of transporting 4x8 drywall sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Install kitchens, bathrooms, exterior sub-floors and framing.
  • Rough/finish carpentry, trim, crown molding and wainscoting.
  • Assist with drywall hanging, taping, mudding and painting; minor repairs.

Operating since 1978, Lydale is one of western Canada's most trusted full-service property restoration contractors, specializing in complete clean-up and reconstruction (both commercial and residential) of property damaged from wind, water, and/or fire. Position Overview

A Carpenter is responsible for helping those who have been affected by fire or flood damage by rebuilding and restoring areas of homes back to their original state. Our reconstruction team is looking for individuals who are skilled in or looking to apprentice or cross train in any of the following: drywall, painting, ceiling texture & installation or carpentry. We hire employees that are new to the trades and train them in to be valuable and versatile employees that can perform a wide array of tasks. As employees develop, we offer them further training so they are continuously developing in the below areas.

  • Install kitchens, bathrooms and exterior sub-floors and framing
  • Rough/finished and trim carpentry
  • Complete chair rail and wainscoting installation
  • Apply veneer panels and moldings including crown molding
  • Mortise door hinges
  • Drill for locksets
  • Install windows and exterior doors
  • Frame columns and beams
  • Frame with steel studs
  • Frame wood walls and bulkheads
Drywall
  • Assist with hanging install, taping, sanding, mudding drywall and paint
  • Minor repairs (patch, ready to paint, texture)
  • Cut and install drywall
  • Denshield drywall application
  • Tape, coat, skim, sand to prepare for paint
Paint
  • Caulk, fill base and trim
  • Brush and spray base and casing
  • Assist with spray
Health and Safety
  • Ensure that self and others adhere to Canstar’s health and safety practices and procedures
  • Ensure good housekeeping is kept to perform work safely and efficiently
  • Understand safety policies and protocols
  • Ensure that self and others on site are wearing all required PPE, when required
Who we are looking for:

A personable and well-organized individual who pays attention to detail and has excellent data entry skills. Someone who has a professional manner and is able to interact with employers and vendors daily. Experienced in working in a fast- paced environment. Other important attributes of a future Carpenter are:

  • Minimum 3 -5 years of experience as a Handyman/ Carpenter with drywall and painting experience
  • The physical ability to bend, reach, lift 50 pounds safely and repeatedly and stand throughout your shift
  • A driver’s license and personal truck/cargo van/minivan or vehicle large enough to transport 4x8 sheets of drywall and to attend jobsites is a must (generous monthly vehicle allowance is provided)
  • An eagerness to bulk your paycheck with overtime hours as we are a 24/7 emergency services company, and all positions will have a component of on-call work on a rotational basis
  • A great attitude and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and serve our customers
  • The ability to wear personal protective equipment to keep you safe on site, including a respirator.
  • We enter people’s homes, so a clean criminal record as it relates to work and a driver’s abstract with only minor infractions is required
