Job summary

Kibbi in Langley, BC is seeking a skilled carpenter to join our on-site construction team. You will read blueprints, lay foundations, install walls and roof systems, and supervise junior workers on varied projects.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of carpentry experience, a high school certificate or equivalent, own transportation, and the ability to travel between sites. On-site work with diverse commercial and residential builds is expected.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
• 2 years to less than 3 years of experience.
• On-site construction role; no remote work.
• Own transportation and willingness to travel; valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Prepare tenders and quotations.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites.
• Survey building locations and levels.
• Instruct apprentices
• Supervise other workers
• Estimate costs and materials
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
