Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee all maintenance operations, ensuring building safety and accessibility for residents. You will lead a team, coordinate internal and external repairs, and manage preventative programs while aligning with regulatory standards.

The role requires a post-secondary degree or diploma and 2 years in a supervisory capacity, plus strong communication and budget management skills.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma preferred.
• Two (2) years experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity is preferred.
• Experience in general maintenance and repair,
• Ability to lead a team by setting an example in a direct and positive manner.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing and carpentry.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Skilled in conflict management techniques.
• Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting is an asset.
• Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors.
• Demonstrated experience in managing a budget.
• Familiar with Employment Standards Act, Workers’ Compensation Act, Retirement Homes Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, TB test (<6 months) and three supervisory references.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute all aspects of the Maintenance department.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair operations to keep building and systems in good condition.
• Schedule and supervise maintenance work, including external contractors.
• Manage preventative maintenance programs and budget-related tasks.
• Notify GM of significant malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
• Conduct regular life-safety rounds and safety inspections.
• Maintain inventories and safe storage of supplies.
• Participate in infection control, quality management and safety committees.
