Job summary

Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board in Saint-Jérôme is seeking a part-time caretaker to perform maintenance and preventive upkeep of the school facility. The role includes coordinating with other staff and ensuring safe operation of heating, ventilation, lighting and alarm systems.

Working hours are 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with a salary of CAD 25.89 per hour, plus fringe benefits such as four weeks of annual vacation, a pension plan, telemedicine and an employee and family

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of pertinent experience.
• General knowledge of the operation of the heating, ventilation, lighting and alarm systems that a caretaker oversees.
• Basic knowledge of the main building trades.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance work as well as preventive and physical upkeep of an educational institution or building.
• Organize and carry out such work as well as coordinating and overseeing it when it is carried out with or by other employees.

NATURE OF THE WORK

• The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in being responsible for carrying out the maintenance work as well as the preventive and physical upkeep of an educational institution or building.
• The role also consists in organizing and carrying out such work as well as coordinating and overseeing it when it is carried out with or by other employees.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Have three (3) years of pertinent experience.
• Practical skills: Have a general knowledge of the operation of the heating, ventilation, lighting and alarm systems that a caretaker oversees.
• Have a basic knowledge of the main building trades.
