Job summary

ComForCare in Milton, Ontario is seeking a compassionate Portuguese-speaking Caregiver/PSW to support a client at home. You will provide personal care, companionship, and assistance with daily routines.

The role includes preparing meals, light housekeeping, and reminders for medications per the care plan. A valid driver's license or reliable transportation is preferred.

Qualifications

• PSW program or Health Care Aide experience is an asset.
• Successful completion of PSW/HHA skills assessment.
• English Proficiency; Portuguese language required.
• Valid driver’s licence or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Portuguese-Speaking Caregiver / PSW

Location: Milton, Ontario

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable Portuguese-speaking Caregiver / Personal Support Worker (PSW) to support a client in Milton. The successful candidate will provide personal care, companionship, respite, and assistance with daily household routines.

Key Responsibilities:

Personal care

• Assist with bathing or showering, dressing, grooming, shampooing, and oral hygiene.
• Support safe mobility, ambulation, and range-of-motion exercises as outlined in the care plan.
• Provide assistance with incontinence care and basic skin care.
• Plan and prepare meals.

Companionship and household support

• Provide companionship and respite for the client’s family.
• Assist with routine light housekeeping, such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping, washing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry, and cleaning the bathroom.

Medication reminders

• Remind the client about medications they self-administer, in accordance with the care plan.
• Medication administration is not part of this role.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a provincially approved Personal Support Worker, Certified Nurse Aide, or Health Care Aide program—or equivalent experience—is an asset.
• Successful completion of the PSW/HHA skills assessment.
• Successful completion of the DEARS (Drugs and Ethics) test.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the role.
• Ability to speak Portuguese is required; Spanish is an asset.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to an insured vehicle, or reliable transportation suitable for the job.
