Job summary

Home Instead Senior Care is seeking caring CAREGivers to join our growing team in Ottawa and surrounding areas. We provide non-medical services that support aging adults with dignity, compassion, and respect, with a commitment to ongoing care.

Hours vary including overnights, days, evenings, weekends and holidays. The hourly wage is $18.00–$19.50, and training is provided. Join a community-focused team delivering meaningful care close to home.

Qualifications

• Must have a vehicle with valid auto insurance.
• Must be a certified PSW or International Nurse.
• Experience with 2-person transfers; training provided.
• Experience with palliative care is an asset.
• Experience with bed-bound clients.
• Experience with all forms of personal care.
• Must be a team player and willing to work with other CAREGivers.
• Experience with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s, MS, and Diabetes is an asset.
• Must be comfortable with pets and/or smoking.
• Must have a valid VSC check.
• Must have TB test.
• Must provide ongoing availability.
• Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 with accommodation where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 care to clients, solo or with another CAREGiver.
• Assist in transfers using mechanical lifts or 1-person assists.
• Provide medication reminders.
• Support activities of daily living (toileting, bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation).
• Assist in palliative care as needed.
• Maintain communication and report client care needs.
• May assist with instrumental activities of daily living (laundry, meals, etc.).

The Hours Of Work can include a variety of hours such as overnights, days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays to serve clients in the following areas:

Renfrew, Arnprior, Carleton Place, Casselman, Rockland, Hawkesbury, Kemptville, Cornwall, Kanata, Ottawa East, and Kingston

Hourly Wage: $18.00 - $19.50

Essential Job Functions

• Going home to home Providing 1:1 care assistance to each client individually or in a team setting with another CG
• Assist in 2-person transfers using mechanical lifts or 1-person assists
• Provide medication reminders
• Support clients in completing all Activities of Daily Living such as toileting, bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation assistance
• Assist in palliative support as needed
• Expected to maintain communication regarding all client care needs and changes and make appropriate reports
• May be required to assist in Instrumental Activities of Daily Living such as laundry, changing linens, warming up meals, etc.

Requirements Of The Position

• Must have a vehicle with valid auto insurance

• Experience changing with bed-bound clients
• Experience with all forms of personal care
• Must be a team player and willing to work with other Home Instead CGs
• Experience with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, MS, and Diabetes is an asset
• Must be comfortable with pets and/or smoking
• Must have a valid VSC check
• Must have their TB test
• Must be able to provide availability that will allow an ongoing commitment
