Job summary

Home Instead Senior Care in Ottawa is seeking CAREGivers to provide compassionate, non-medical care to aging adults in the community.

We offer training and opportunities for growth, with flexible hours including overnights, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays to serve clients near you.

Qualifications

• Certified PSW or International Nurse.
• Vehicle with valid auto insurance is required.
• COVID-19 vaccination proof required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Experience with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's or Diabetes is an asset.
• TB test and VSC check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 care in client homes or with a teammate.
• Assist in 2-person transfers using lifts or 1-person assists.
• Provide medication reminders.
• Support activities of daily living (toileting, bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation).
• Assist in palliative support as needed.
• Maintain communication and report changes in client care.
• Assist with instrumental activities of daily living (e.g., laundry, changing linens, warming meals).

Home Instead Senior Care provides a variety of non-medical services that allow seniors to meet the challenges of aging with dignity, care, and compassion. We are looking for people who can provide an ongoing commitment.

The Hours Of Work Can Include a Variety Of Hours Such As Overnights, Days, Nights, Evenings, Weekends, And Holidays To Service Clients In The Following Areas

LOCATIONS

Hourly Wage: $18.00 - $19.50

Essential Job Functions

• Going home to home Providing 1:1 care assistance to each client individually or in a team setting with another CG
• Assist in 2-person transfers using mechanical lifts or 1-person assists
• Provide medication reminders
• Support clients in completing all Activities of Daily Living such as toileting, bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation assistance
• Assist in palliative support as needed
• Expected to maintain communication regarding all client care needs and changes and make appropriate reports
• May be required to assist in Instrumental Activities of Daily Living such as laundry, changing linens, warming up meals, etc.

Requirements Of The Position

• Must have a vehicle with valid auto insurance
• Must be a certified PSW or International Nurse
• Experience with 2-person transfers asset - training will be provided as needed
• Experience with palliative care - asset
• Experience changing with bed-bound clients
• Experience with all forms of personal care
• Must be a team player and willing to work with other Home Instead CGs
• Experience with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, MS, and Diabetes is an asset
• Must be comfortable with pets and/or smoking
• Must have a valid VSC check
• Must have their TB test
• Must be able to provide availability that will allow an ongoing commitment
