Job summary

CDI College in Edmonton is hiring a Career Services Coordinator to drive practicum placements, lead employer partnerships, and support students toward successful employment outcomes. Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate from a recognized University or College (Degree preferred).
  • Three years’ experience in a related field, such as recruitment or employment counselling.
  • Demonstrated experience in a high-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume inbound and outbound calls.
  • Track record of meeting qualitative and quantitative targets.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and foster effective relationships with local and regional businesses, organizations, and community partners to secure practicum and employment opportunities.
  • Develop creative methods to reach industry partners, including job lead generation and employer partnerships.
  • Collaborate with host organizations to ensure customer satisfaction and address issues effectively.
  • Build a strong brand in the community and recruit employer interaction through graduate interviews and employer presentations.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to expand the employer database.
  • Consult with Instructors to determine the educational requirements for practicum experiences.
  • Assist Instructors in evaluating the appropriateness and quality of student practicum placements.
  • Coach and develop relationships with both graduated and currently enrolled students.
  • Match students with practicum placements based on program requirements, individual interests, and professional development needs.
  • Facilitate job search activities, including interview preparation, resume/cover letter writing, and career goal assessments.
  • Monitor practicum placements through regular liaison with host organizations and students.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records for all practicum and employment files.
  • Conduct workshops to prepare students for job readiness.
  • Maintain employment placement rates by establishing productive relationships internally and externally.
  • Prepare graduate employment rate reports and analyze data to develop strategies for improvement.
  • Maintain a database of graduate employment activity, documenting and verifying the status of graduates until employment is obtained.
  • Provide market intelligence to leadership regarding employment trends and curriculum effectiveness.
  • Conduct intake interviews in conjunction with admissions staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external documentation requirements.
  • Maintain confidential records and provide status updates as required.

Job Description: Career Services Coordinator

Location: CDI College, Edmonton North

Salary: $40,000 – $42,000 per annum

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the Career Services Coordinator is to ensure that students gain hands‑on experience in their field and that graduates find gainful employment. By managing the career services program, this role acts on our commitment to our students by driving successful graduate employment outcomes. The Career Services Coordinator is responsible for providing programs and support for students and alumni regarding practicums, career advice, and employment opportunities to meet or exceed company standards.

JOB PROFILE

Specifically, the Career Services Coordinator will be responsible for:

Developing external relationships to build practicum placements and job leads.

Collaborating with Instructors to determine appropriate practicum experiences for students.

Monitoring the quality of the student experience, including practicums and the job search process.

Engaging students in the work search process through active tracking and monitoring.

Achieving the College’s targeted employment rates.

Supporting administrative functions to enhance the student experience.

Acting in a manner that upholds the College’s professional standards.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Employer Relations & Business Development

Establish and foster effective relationships with local and regional businesses, organizations, and community partners to secure practicum and employment opportunities.

Develop creative methods to reach industry partners, including job lead generation and employer partnerships.

2. Academic Collaboration

Consult with Instructors to determine the educational requirements for practicum experiences.

Assist Instructors in evaluating the appropriateness and quality of student practicum placements.

3. Student Support & Career Coaching

Coach and develop relationships with both graduated and currently enrolled students.

Match students with practicum placements based on program requirements, individual interests, and professional development needs.

Facilitate job search activities, including interview preparation, resume/cover letter writing, and career goal assessments.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Diploma or certificate from a recognized University or College (Degree preferred).
