Job summary

Avail CPA seeks a Client Accounting Supervisor to support the CAAS team. The role may be based in Lethbridge or remote within Alberta/Saskatchewan, with strong month-end and reporting duties and opportunities to mentor junior staff.

You will lead month-end closes, oversee client accounting processes, and collaborate with senior staff to deliver timely financial insights. CPA preferred, with remote options available.

Qualifications

• CPA designation preferred; strong month-end close and reporting experience.
• Experience in public practice or client accounting services is asset.
• Experience supervising junior staff and coordinating deadlines.
• Solid payroll, remittance, and GST/PST knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and client service skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, carry out, and manage month-end closes for a portfolio of clients.
• Review reconciliations, transactions, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare or review journal entries, accruals, deferrals, payroll entries, and loan balances.
• Process complex payroll and related reconciliations when required.
• Prepare, review, and file GST/PST returns.
• Maintain reporting dashboards and deliver timely financial information.
• Prepare initial commentary on significant results and variances.
• Act as the primary day-to-day accounting and reporting contact for clients.
• Assign and review the work of junior team members and provide coaching.
• Monitor deadlines, resolve workflow issues, and follow up on outstanding items.
• Follow CAAS processes and suggest workflow improvements.
• Provide client training on accounting processes and systems when required.

We are currently seeking a Client Accounting Supervisor to support our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) team.

We're currently seeking a Client Accounting Supervisor to support our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) team. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong month-end and reporting expertise and is ready to lead. That could be a newly designated CPA or an exceptional accounting professional working toward their designation. We'd love to have this person in our Lethbridge office, but we're also open to remote candidates in Alberta or Saskatchewan.

What You Will Do

As a key member of our team, you will:

What We're Looking For

• CPA designation preferred. Strong candidates without a designation will also be considered
• 3 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience, including month-end close and financial reporting
• Experience in public practice or a client accounting services environment is an asset
• Experience reviewing, supervising, or mentoring junior staff
• Solid working knowledge of payroll, remittances, and GST/PST
• Advanced working knowledge of online accounting, receipt-capture, and practice management software
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple client deadlines and priorities
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication, with strong client service skills
• Ability to work independently and stay connected with the team and clients, including when working remotely
• Discretion with confidential client and financial information
