Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority seeks a Care Team Assistant to provide hands-on patient care at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. The role supports daily living activities and reinforces care plan teaching under supervision.

Successful candidates will possess the Continuing Care Assistant program, provincial certification with active CCA Registry, and current Basic Life Support. French is a plus and effective communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires Continuing Care Assistant Program.
  • Must be provincially certified with Department of Health and Wellness and registered with the CCA Registry.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; French language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, hands-on care based on patient and program needs.
  • Support activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living for patients.
  • Reinforce patient and family teaching according to care plans.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager and working under the supervision or direction of regulated health professionals, the Care Team Assistant provides direct, hands-on care based on the needs of the patient and program/unit. As a member of the collaborative care team, the Care Team Assistant is responsible for supporting patients' activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living. The Care Team Assistant also reinforces patient and family teaching according to established guidelines and the plan of care.

About You

  • Continuing Care Assistant Program
  • Provincial Certification with Department of Health and Wellness
    • Candidates are required to submit their certification and be registered and active with the CCA Registry. How-to-Sign-Up-for-the-CCA-Registry.pdf (nsccaprod.wpenginepowered.com)
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Where there are no applicants with provincial certification the employer may consider candidates who are eligible to write the CCA knowledge exam and obtain certification within 1 year from their date of hire.

Hours
  • Long assignment, full-time; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately 12 months
Compensation and Benefits

$24.91 - $28.37 hourly
