Our client, a leader in Health Care Facilities, has multiple openings for Care Support Assistants across various locations in Ontario. These roles can be full-time, part-time, or contract.
Summary:
The Care Support Assistant is responsible for following the plan of care to assist with nursing and personal care of residents. They support activities of daily living, dining services, comfort and companionship, and housekeeping as assigned. As a valued team member, the Care Support Assistant demonstrates commitment to resident safety by providing quality care aligned with the organization’s vision and mission.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and support to residents, ensuring a warm, safe environment that meets their comfort and welfare needs.
- Support residents in preparing for and attending home events to promote a positive experience.
- Act as a resident companion, offering comfort, support, and companionship.
- Practice safe food handling techniques during all food service activities.
- Assist with table/tray preparation, serving beverages and food, and maintain a clean environment using infection control principles.
- Complete laundry and housekeeping duties, including restocking, bed making, and organizing personal spaces.
- Maintain and safely operate all equipment, reporting issues to the supervisor.
- Participate in resident admission and transfer processes as directed.
- Communicate any resident care or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Transport residents within the facility as needed.
- Report incidents involving residents or team members and complete necessary documentation.
- Greet visitors positively and offer assistance.
- Interact courteously with residents and families, reporting concerns to the supervisor.
- Notify the supervisor immediately of incidents that may result in an occupational injury and complete reports accordingly.
- Follow all health and safety policies to minimize injury risks.
- Assist as a second care provider during lifts and transfers, including using mechanical devices.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Experience working with seniors preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate warmly and effectively with residents, families, and visitors.
- Empathetic and sensitive to residents' needs.
