Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Residential Care Worker for the Toronto Harbour Light Ministries, with weekend overnight shifts from 12 AM to 8 AM. You will ensure the safety of residents, provide front-line reception, manage logs, and support facility operations.

Reporting to the Transitional Housing Program Coordinator, you will monitor security, complete documentation, and coordinate with management while assisting in transfers and incident reporting as part of a dedicated team.

Qualifications

• Completed up to two years of Community College, preferably within social services sector.
• Experience with multiline telephone systems.
• Experience within social services sector, and/or mental health agencies.
• Experience with security systems.
• Customer service experience an asset.
• Keyboarding and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as email and internet applications.
• Awareness of community resources.
• Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and security for residents, students, volunteers, staff and visitors to the facility.
• Front line reception responsibilities, including operation of a multiline telephone system, and greeting of all visitors.
• Log and distribute all documentation to appropriate facility staff or clients.
• Respond to email as required.
• Generate pertinent observational/incident reports and report to appropriate Director and/or Executive Director.
• Facility rounds: hourly rounds for residential areas including security pass logging.
• Monitor Resident Passes and facility and staff areas as required.
• Shift change transfer of knowledge and close shift procedures and transfer of information as required.
• Assist in referring individuals to withdrawal management services and hospitals in consultation with on call management and onsite staff.
• Assist in the facility fire evacuation plan including record and monitor attendance.
