Alberta Health Services in Edmonton is looking for a Cardiovascular Perfusionist I to join the Mazankowski Heart Institute. You will prepare and manage cardiopulmonary bypass and advanced support for adult, pediatric and infant patients, collaborating with physicians and the perfusion team.

This regular part-time role offers rotating shifts in a state-of-the-art Cardiac Centre, with CSCP/ABCP certification expectations, ongoing education, and opportunities to contribute to teaching and research

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Perfusion training program.
  • Active or eligible for registration with CSCP.
  • Current BCLS-HCP certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and manage cardiopulmonary bypass and related modalities for all ages.
  • Deliver life-saving cardiopulmonary support including ECLS and VAD management.
  • Collaborate with physicians and ECMO specialists to ensure patient safety.

In this dynamic role, you will deliver life-saving cardiopulmonary support, including extracorporeal life support (ECLS) and long-term ventricular assist device (VAD) management. You'll also be at the forefront of innovative therapies like intra-aortic balloon pumps, autologous blood processing, and transplant organ circulatory support - all within the Clinical Perfusion scope. As a Cardiovascular Perfusionist I, you are responsible for the safe and efficient preparation for and management of cardiopulmonary bypass and related cardiopulmonary support modalities for adult, pediatric and infant patients. You will work in consultation with attending physicians and will administer various anaesthetic and medical gases, other related pharmaceuticals, blood and blood products and various crystalloid solutions.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Perfusion training program.Active or eligible for registration with Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Providers (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP) Certification (CPC) within two years of start date is required, however, in lieu of such, American Board (ABCP) Certification (CCP) may be considered prior to obtaining CSCP. Continuing education and maintenance of CSCP educational credits. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills required.
