St. Mary’s General Hospital is home to the Regional Cardiac Care Centre (RCCC) for Waterloo-Wellington. In addition, the centre accepts referrals from Perth County, Grey-Bruce, Huron, Brant, and Oxford Counties, as well as Haldimand-Norfolk. St. Mary’s General Hospital RCCC is a full-service, adult non-transplant cardiac surgery centre serving a population of almost 1.4 million. The Division of Cardiac Surgery performs over 750 open heart procedures annually, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, complex aortic surgery, MICS, and Ross procedures. Additionally, in collaboration with the Division of Cardiology, the growing TAVI program performs almost 200 cases per year, including transcarotid and transaxillary alternative access. St. Mary’s General Hospital is a teaching site associated with McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. On April 1, 2025, St. Mary’s General Hospital and Grand River Hospital will merge to become Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN).
The Division of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a Locum Cardiac Surgeon to cover a leave of absence for 1 of our 3 surgeons, with potential for a permanent position in the future. The ideal candidate will have completed an advanced fellowship and have 3 to 10 years full-time independent operating experience. TAVI experience is essential. The start time for the position is after August 1, 2025.
