Job summary

Siemens Canada is seeking a Capacity Planner to ensure efficient and timely planning of production activities, balancing demand, material availability, and capacity across the shop floor. The role supports weekly and long-term planning and coordinates with Production, Source, Engineering, and Order Management teams.

This position offers a hybrid work model, a salary range of CAD 75,000–80,000 plus a 10% discretionary annual bonus, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in materials management, business administration or supply chain related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of production planning, capacity planning or supply chain logistics experience.
  • Strong experience with SAP or comparable ERP systems.
  • Excellent computer skills (email, spreadsheets, word processing).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective relationship management and teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily capacity capabilities by work center and identify constraints.
  • Perform weekly reporting of work center capacities.
  • Validate material availability to support the schedule plan and coordinate with Source team.
  • Plan and establish shop-floor production schedules considering orders, material, and capacity.
  • Dispatch new production orders to ensure capacity alignment.
  • Carry out detailed capacity planning for machine and labor resources by work center.
  • Participate in decisions on make-in-house vs. external production strategies.
  • Expedite and de-expedite production orders to meet delivery expectations.
  • Communicate production priorities to the shop floor with tools/processes.
  • Inform Order Management of any delays impacting deliveries.
  • Create manufacturing schedules aligned with orders and forecasts.
  • Generate MTR production orders for R&D and Product Engineering.
  • Support Team Leads with production order tasks.
  • Implement ECNs accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize supply chain performance.
  • Provide lead times to Order Entry on request.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in planning, scheduling and production.

What will you do?

The Capacity Planner is responsible for ensuring efficient and timely planning of production activities, balancing customer demand, material availability, and manufacturing capacity. This role supports daily, weekly, and long-term capacity planning while driving effective communication between Production, Source, Engineering, and Order Management teams. The position also plays a key role in supporting schedule adherence, identifying and resolving capacity constraints, and maintaining the overall health of the production plan.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain daily capacity capabilities by work center, identifying constraints and assisting in resolution.
  • Perform weekly reporting of work center capacities.
  • Validate material availability to support the schedule plan; identify shortages and coordinate with Source team.
  • Plan and establish shop-floor production schedules considering customer orders, material availability, and plant capacity.
  • Dispatch new production orders to ensure capacity alignment.
  • Carry out detailed capacity planning for machine and labour resources by work center.
  • Participate in decision-making processes regarding make-in-house versus alternative production strategies to compensate for capacity bottlenecks.
  • Expedite and de-expedite production orders as required to meet customer delivery expectations.
  • Communicate production priorities to the shop floor using agreed up tools and processes.
  • Advise the Order Management team of any delays impacting customer deliveries.
  • Create manufacturing-related schedules aligned with orders and forecasted demand.
  • Generate MTR production orders for R&D and Product Engineering.
  • Support Team Leads with production order-related tasks.
  • Implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, sharing relevant information to ensure optimal supply chain performance.
  • Provide lead times to Order Entry upon customer request.
  • Actively support continuous improvement initiatives within planning, scheduling, and production processes.
What will you need to succeed?
  • Post-secondary education: College Diploma in Materials Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent.

Salary iscommensuratewith experience, and ranges between 75,000 $ 80,000, excluding bonus and benefits. In addition to base salary, this role includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus of 10% base salary, based on Company performance metrics.
