The Canada Finance Lead will be responsible for all local financial management, including providing finance business support to the Canadian business.
The role will lead the Canadian financial planning process, focusing on value creation and aligning resources with strategic priorities. It will be actively involved in existing portfolio and launch plan projects, including oversight of the local distribution flow of commercial products.
The role will partner with the accounting and tax functions to deliver statutory accounts, regulatory, and tax reporting.
Reporting Line
The role currently reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Provide relevant and timely financial analyses about the business and the performance of argenx Canada to enable strategic decisions, including but not limited to:
- Commercial finance support for demand forecasting (S&OP), payer contract review, pricing, revenue recognition, gross-to-net
- Periodic (weekly/monthly) sales reporting and R&O analysis
- Business analysis, managing KPIs, resource optimization, ratio analysis
- Periodic analysis of headcount-related expenses and FTEs
- Developing ad hoc analysis and reports
Prepare, in liaison with the Corporate FP&A team, the Canadian annual operating plan and latest estimates, including but not limited to:
- Refining global revenue models to capture Canadian market drivers
- Guiding business on investment prioritization to maximize growth within resource constraints
- Operating expense planning, including headcount and program/activity expenses
- Coordinating and submitting planning information into Oracle Planning systems
- Preparing slide decks for business reviews
- Refining and implementing systems supporting planning processes
Internal Controls
Work closely with the Director of Accounting and Internal Control Manager to review, update, and document business processes and financial policies, ensuring operational and SOX controls support the group internal control framework, policies, and local statutory, tax, and audit requirements.
Preparation of Accounts, Financial Statements, and Reports
- Support shared accounting services with all accounting processes and operations, including A/R, A/P, GL, payroll. Assist with business projects and revenue recognition per Canadian policies.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of local accounting records and financial systems.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for discussion with local operational and group senior management.
- Assist the CFO in providing relevant and timely financial information on Canada activities to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
Tax
- Support the argenx Global Tax team and North America Lead on tax areas, including direct, indirect, transfer pricing, excise, and assist in federal & provincial tax audits and income tax provisions.
- Assist in managing co-sourced compliance arrangements, including federal and provincial reporting and filings.
Distribution and Order to Cash
- Oversee 3PL Warehouse, customer service, demand, and revenue.
Recognition
- KPI development, tracking, and performance of vendor distribution services.
- Inventory reconciliation (physical and electronic).
- Oversee customer service to ensure timely, accurate order processing, leveraging Oracle system configuration with appropriate internal controls.
- Work with the Director of Patient Services to ensure optimal inventory levels at 3PL and vendors.
- Design, develop, and implement reporting for month-end GTN accruals.
- Support Market Access in reconciling invoices from payers under managed access agreements.
General
- Member of the Canadian Management Committee with a dotted reporting line to the Canadian General Manager.
- Manage relationships with vendors, auditors, lawyers, tax advisers, bankers, insurance, and other parties as directed by the CFO.
- Lead and mentor Senior Managers, Distribution, and Customer Services staff.
- Execute special projects as needed.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Accounting or Economics.
- Relevant experience as Director FP&A.
- Minimum of 7+ years in accounting and finance, preferably within biotech or pharma industry.
