Job summary

Barrick Mining Corporation invites a seasoned Exploration Project Geologist to join its Canadian Exploration team in Ontario. You will apply a strong foundation in hard-rock geology to target generation, data interpretation, and fieldwork planning, with ~50% field time and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates bring at least 4 years in mining exploration, knowledge of ore forming processes, and proficiency in Leapfrog, ArcGIS Pro, and Iogas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Geology or related field required.
• Member of a professional geoscience or engineering association in Canada.
• 4+ years of experience in mining/mineral exploration.
• Strong organization and attention to detail with ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Knowledge of safety, health, environmental standards and communities.
• Competence in mineralogy, structural geology, with field experience.
• Bilingual English/French preferred.
• Driver’s license.
• Available for field work 50% of the time.
• Knowledge of Leapfrog, ArcGIS Pro, Iogas.
• Knowledge of greenstone hosted gold deposits.

The Exploration group is proud to be home to leading technical experts in the geosciences. The expected salary is between $95,000 and $105,000 Canadian dollars per year. As part of the Exploration team, the successful candidate is required to have a passion for discovery. The candidate ought to be self-motivated, and able to thrive in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in hard-rock geology and possess knowledge of ore forming processes.

Responsibilities

• Collection of geologic data, mapping, sampling, and core logging
• Ensure application of best practices, data integrity and implementation of QAQC procedures in all program components.
• Data synthesis, compilation, and geologic interpretation to support targeting, including hand drawn and digital cross-sections, long sections and surface maps and level plans.
• Maintain project geospatial data (3D model and database)
• Contribute in the identification of new exploration targets at project and district scale.
• Exploration program design and safe execution
• Deliver regular progress reports and presentations, including technical reports.
• Maintain a proactive and respectful interaction with all employees and stakeholders, encouraging teamwork in a 360° collaborative environment.
• Supervising and organizing multidisciplinary teams to timely and properly execute all exploration programs.
• Comply with all Barrick policies and procedures, and all local laws and regulations.

Responsabilités

• Collecte de données géologiques, cartographie, échantillonnage de surface et diagraphie des carottes
• Garantir l’utilisation des meilleures pratiques, de l’intégrité des données et de la mise en œuvre des procédures d’assurance qualité et de contrôle qualité pour tous les programmes.
• Synthèse, compilation et interprétation géologique des données à l'appui du ciblage, incluant la production de section transversales, de sections longitudinales, de plans de niveaux et de surface, en format papier et digital.
• Entretenir les données géospatiales (Model 3D et base de données)
• Contribuer à l’identification de cibles à différentes échelles.
• Conception et exécution sécuritaire des programmes d'exploration
• Fournir régulièrement des rapports d'avancement et des présentations, incluant des rapports techniques.
• Maintenir un environnement proactif et respectueux avec tous les employés et partis prenants, en encourageant le travail d’équipe dans un espace collaboratif.
• Superviser et organiser des équipes multidisciplinaires afin d’éxécuter de manière efficace tous les programmes d’exploration.

Qualifications

• Baccalauréat ès sciences en géologie ou dans un domaine connexe requis
• Membre d’une association professionnelle de géosciences ou d’ingénierie au Canada
• Plus de 4 ans d'expérience dans le secteur minier/l'exploration minière
• Faire preuve d'un sens aigu de l'organisation et d'une grande attention aux détails, ainsi que d'une capacité d'adaptation aux priorités changeantes.
• Connaissance des standards de santé-sécurité, environnementaux et de relations communautaires.
• Compétences en minéralogie et géologie structurale, avec expérience de terrain
