Position Summary: To support the Store Manager and manage store operations according to Company guidelines, leading Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service and drive profitable store sales.
What you'll do:
- Generate profitable sales: As a member of the store management team, achieve sales and profit targets, manage budgets, and forecast sales. Analyze sales and financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to respond to market changes while reducing expenses. Communicate sales results to associates and guide interpretation.
- Create operational plans: Collaborate with the management team to develop plans, prioritize tasks, delegate, and set clear directives for managers and associates. Ensure optimal store conditions by effectively presenting merchandise, maintaining accurate and competitive pricing, and establishing standards aligned with Company policies. Implement new programs, monitor inventory and replenishment, identify stock circulation issues, and take corrective actions. The assistant manager is trained to work competently across all store sectors as needed.
- Security and asset protection: Execute and monitor security controls, maintain quality assurance standards, supervise security and operational reviews, and ensure compliance with Walmart directives and safety procedures. Proactively address compliance issues, including loss prevention and control measures.
- Customer service: Act as a store ambassador by greeting customers, gathering feedback, responding to needs and complaints, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. Guide associates on courteous and attentive customer service techniques.
- Community engagement: Support store initiatives to serve the community by participating in and supporting community events and developing relationships with key community groups. Engage in sustainability programs sponsored by the Company for associates and customers, highlighting the store's role in the community.
- Team leadership: Lead associates by conducting regular store meetings, communicating operational directives focused on OMNI programs, and fostering engagement. Recognize achievements, provide growth opportunities, and identify high-potential associates for training and development.
- Values and accountability: Demonstrate Company values by holding managers and associates accountable, providing honest and respectful feedback, and implementing corrective measures. Build and maintain relationships with support staff across stores and districts.
- Compliance: Follow Company policies when handling merchandise, including alcohol, ammunition, narcotics, and high-value items. Ensure proper cash controls, handling daily sums up to $250,000.
