Walmart is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations while driving sales performance. This role includes managing a team of associates, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining operational standards, and engaging with the community to represent the store positively.
Position Summary: To support the Store Manager and manage store operations according to Company guidelines, leading Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service and drive profitable store sales.
As a member of the Store Management Team, drive profitable sales through achievement of sales and profit goals, budget management, and sales forecasts. Analyze sales/financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to identify and respond to market changes while controlling expenditures. Communicate sales results to associates and guide interpretation of results.
Create operational plans with the Management Team; prioritize, delegate, and provide clear direction to Managers and Associates. Ensure optimal store conditions through effective merchandise presentation, accurate and competitive pricing, and adherence to store standards within Company policies. Implement new store programs and evaluate their effectiveness, focusing on specific areas such as Front End, Back End, Fresh, or Operations. An Assistant Manager is cross-trained to work proficiently in all store areas when needed.
Execute and monitor asset protection and safety controls; maintain quality assurance standards; oversee safety and operational reviews, ensuring compliance with Walmart policies and procedures, including safety, security, sales, financial, and record-keeping practices. Proactively address compliance issues, including Total Loss and general controls.
Serve customers as an ambassador for the store by greeting customers, seeking feedback, and resolving customer needs, complaints, and issues within Company guidelines to create a positive shopping experience. Model and enforce friendly and helpful customer service approaches and techniques among associates.
Support store initiatives to serve the community by participating in community events and developing relationships with key community groups. Engage in company-sponsored programs, events, and sustainability efforts to highlight the store’s role as an integral part of the community.
Lead associates through regular store meetings; communicate operational directions and initiatives, focusing on OMNI and Total Store. Drive engagement, recognize accomplishments, and provide professional growth opportunities. Develop all associates and identify high-potential individuals, offering training and development to enhance capabilities.
Demonstrate Company values by holding associates accountable through timely, honest, and respectful performance feedback, as well as corrective and disciplinary actions. Build and manage relationships with supporting functions within the store and district, such as District HR Managers.
Ensure compliance with all Company standards and procedures when handling merchandise, including alcohol, ammunition, narcotics, and high-ticket items. Manage cash controls, handling up to two hundred and fifty thousand dollars per day.
