(CAN) General Merchandise Assistant Manager
Position Summary...
To support the Store Manager and manage store operations according to Company guidelines and lead Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service and drive profitable store sales.
What you'll do...
- Drive profitable sales: As a member of the Store Management Team, achieve sales and profit goals, manage budgets, and create sales forecasts. Analyze sales/financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to respond to market changes while controlling expenditures. Communicate sales results to associates and guide interpretation of results.
- Operational planning: Collaborate with the Management Team to create operational plans; prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and provide clear direction to Managers and Associates. Ensure optimal store conditions through effective merchandise presentation, accurate and competitive pricing, and adherence to store standards within Company policies. Implement new store programs and evaluate their effectiveness. Cross-train as needed to work proficiently in all store areas.
- Asset protection and safety: Execute and monitor asset protection and safety controls; maintain quality assurance standards; oversee safety and operational reviews, ensuring compliance with Walmart policies and procedures, including safety, security, sales, financial, and record-keeping practices. Proactively address compliance issues.
- Customer service: Serve as an ambassador by greeting customers, seeking feedback, and resolving issues within Company guidelines to create a positive shopping experience. Model and enforce friendly and helpful customer service approaches among associates.
- Community involvement: Support store initiatives to serve the community by participating in events and building relationships with key community groups. Engage in company-sponsored programs, events, and sustainability efforts.
- Leadership and development: Lead associates through regular meetings, communicate operational initiatives, and focus on OMNI and Total Store strategies. Drive engagement, recognize achievements, and provide growth opportunities. Develop associates and identify high-potential talent for training and development.
- Company values and relationships: Demonstrate company values by providing timely, honest, and respectful performance feedback. Manage relationships with supporting functions like HR.
- Compliance: Handle merchandise in accordance with standards, including items like alcohol, ammunition, narcotics, and high-ticket items. Manage cash controls, handling up to $250,000 daily.
