Job description

Position Summary...

To support the Store Manager and manage store operations according to Company guidelines and lead Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service and drive profitable store sales.

What you'll do...
  1. As a member of the Store Management Team, drive profitable sales through achievement of sales and profit goals, budget management, and sales forecasts. Proactively analyze and utilize sales/financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to identify and respond to market changes while controlling expenditures. Communicate sales results to associates and guide interpretation of results.
  2. Create, with the management team, operational plans; prioritize, delegate, and provide clear direction to Managers and Associates. Ensure optimal store conditions through effective merchandise presentation, accurate and competitive pricing, and store standards within company policies. Implement new store programs according to company direction, evaluating effectiveness to achieve successful results, specifically related to the area overseen (Front End, Back End, Fresh, or Operations). Cross-train Assistant Managers to work proficiently in all store areas when needed.
  3. Execute and monitor asset protection and safety controls; maintain quality assurance standards; oversee safety and operational reviews, ensuring compliance with Walmart policies and procedures and with safety, security, sales, financial, and record-keeping practices. Proactively address compliance issues, including Total Loss and general controls.
  4. Serve customers as an ambassador by greeting them, seeking feedback, and resolving their needs, complaints, and issues within company guidelines to create a positive shopping experience. Model, enforce, and direct associates on friendly and helpful customer service techniques.
  5. Support store initiatives to serve the community by participating in community events and developing relationships with key community groups. Participate in company-sponsored programs, events, and sustainability efforts to emphasize the store’s role as part of the community.
  6. Lead associates by conducting regular store meetings, communicating operational direction and initiatives focused on OMNI and the total store. Drive engagement, recognize accomplishments, and provide professional growth opportunities. Develop all associates and identify high-potential individuals, providing training and development to increase capability.
  7. Demonstrate company values by holding associates accountable through timely, honest, and respectful performance feedback, as well as corrective and disciplinary actions. Build and manage relationships with supporting functions within the store and district (e.g., District HR Managers).
  8. Ensure compliance with all company standards and procedures when handling merchandise, including alcohol, ammunition, narcotics, and high-ticket items. Maintain appropriate cash controls, handling up to two hundred fifty thousand dollars per day.
