Job summary

University of Toronto Mississauga seeks a Residence Facilities Supervisor for a nine-month term. The role focuses on delivering high-level customer service for day-to-day operations of the UTM campus residential component, coordinating maintenance, and ensuring compliance.

You will manage contractor interactions, oversee budgets, and lead facilities planning to support student living environments, reporting to Facilities Management and Planning.

Qualifications

• Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years at a supervisory level in building management or building maintenance.
• Experience working with and over‑seeing the work of external contractors required.
• Experience in budget management and procurement required.
• Experience with maintenance and renovations including knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry and other trades required.
• Familiarity with contract administration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a client service orientation.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Experience with the Residential Tenancy Act (RTA).

Responsibilities

• Preparing building operations and services reports.
• Planning ongoing scheduled and non-scheduled facility maintenance programs.
• Coordinating appropriate emergency responses.
• Responding to incidents and notifying appropriate staff, supervisors and/or authorities as required.
• Selecting appropriate contractors and consultants based on work required.
• Liaising with clients and vendors to resolve minor complaints and address issues.
• Supervising non-USW bargaining unit employees.
• Applying established standards to ensure compliance.

Education
