Job summary

MacEwan University’s Wellness and Psychological Services seeks a Counsellor I to support student mental health, academics, and wellbeing. The role involves individual counselling, case management, and program development within a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in counselling-related field, be professionally registered, and bring experience in assessments, counselling, and group workshops.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counselling/Clinical Psychology or Clinical Social Work.
  • Professional registration in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists or the Alberta College of Social Workers.
  • Experience in general assessments, counselling, group facilitation, and workshop development.
  • Experience in post-secondary education environment preferred; commitment to equity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person and telehealth counselling and psychotherapy for a broad range of mental health concerns.
  • Provide general assessments, determine treatment plans, and connect students with resources.
  • Provide safe and affirming counselling for equity-seeking groups.
  • Participate in department meetings and committees; contribute to scholarly activities.
