Job summary

University of Victoria Facilities Management is seeking a carpenter/locksmith with journeyman level skills to repair, maintain and install locks and related hardware across campus. The role requires sound knowledge of building codes, best trade practices and a strong customer service orientation.

Five years of journeyman experience and experience developing key schedules are required; must be able to work outdoors in all weather and be available for weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ journeyman experience.
• Repair, maintenance, and installation of door locks and closers.
• Developing key schedules for buildings.
• Applying knowledge of building codes and practices.
• Use and maintenance of required tools of the trade.
• Production of high quality products and a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform lock repairs and installations.
• Maintain and repair door hardware and closers.
• Develop and manage key schedules for campus buildings.
• Adhere to UVic safety codes and Worksafe BC regulations.
• Operate trade tools with accuracy and efficiency.
