Job summary

University of Victoria seeks an experienced Plumber for a full-time, continuing position in Victoria, BC. The role covers inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems including gas, air, steam, water and waste disposal, across campus.

The successful candidate will diagnose issues, fabricate or upgrade piping, and maintain safe working conditions while following local bylaws and codes in a union environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed apprenticeship and hold current Trades Qualification.
  • Journeyman level skills and proficiency in plumbing trades tasks, especially natural gas installation.
  • Strong knowledge of local plumbing codes and standards.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks in all weather conditions.
  • Valid B.C. driver’s licence required to drive a light truck in performance of duties.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, install, maintain and repair plumbing systems including gas, air, steam, water and waste disposal systems.
  • Locate, diagnose, report and repair malfunctioning systems.
  • Fabricate or upgrade plumbing systems and components per code.
  • Maintain records of time and materials used on projects.

Job Summary

Inspects, installs, maintains and repairs plumbing systems including gas, air, steam, water and waste disposal systems. Locates, diagnoses, reports and repairs malfunctioning systems. Fabricates or upgrades plumbing systems and components in compliance with local bylaws. Services and overhauls plumbing fittings and fixtures, using common machine shop tools. Keeps records of time and material used by project. Maintains tools, equipment and supplies used. Maintains safe working conditions. Other related duties.


Job Requirements

Must have completed apprenticeship and hold current Trades Qualification. Journeyman (M/F) level skills and demonstrated proficiency in performing plumbing trades tasks, in particular, natural gas installation. Good working knowledge of local plumbing codes and standards. Sufficient strength, stamina and coordination to perform a variety of routine heavy manual and machine operation tasks under all weather conditions. Valid B.C. driver's licence required to drive a light truck in performance of above duties
