Job summary

A leading inspection company is seeking a self-motivated and safety-oriented Call out -Certified Exposure Device Operator to join their team in Edmonton, Canada. The role includes performing radiographic inspections, maintaining safety regulations, and mentoring assistant crew members. Qualified candidates will hold a CEDO Certification and have a minimum of two years of experience with necessary safety certifications. Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Must have safety certifications prior to employment: H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid, CSO, Confined Space Entry, OSSA Fall Protection.
  • IRATA Rope Access certification is required.
  • IRATA Rope Access certification required.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Radiography to inspect materials or components for flaws utilizing gamma rays.
  • Conduct radiographic inspections to detect defects in materials, parts, or structures.
  • Maintain safe work practices, particularly when handling radioactive substances.
  • Prepare and calibrate exposure equipment per procedures.
  • Conduct radiographic inspections to detect defects in materials.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and maintain safe work practices around radioactive substances.
  • Complete work assignments per company procedures and deadlines.
  • Produce field sketches as required.
  • Maintain and utilize shared equipment and prevent damage.
  • Report equipment maintenance or repair issues per procedures.
  • Oversee repair and maintenance for assigned equipment.
  • Record inspection results and perform NDT and related tasks.
  • Mentor and guide assistant crew members.
  • Communicate with clients professionally and address questions or concerns.

Job description

SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking a Call out -Certified Exposure Device Operator who is self‑motivated and safety‑oriented to join our team. SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided in‑service pressure vessel inspections predominately to the Oil and Gas industry across western Canada since 2004, and is seeking a skilled, experienced, and team‑oriented candidate who values quality and integrity.

SHIFT AND LOCATION
  • This is a call‑out position with no guaranteed set number of hours.
  • Fly‑in/fly‑out role (from approved hubs). if required
  • The position may or may not be camp‑based, depending on the assignment.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform Radiography to inspect materials or components for flaws utilizing gamma rays. Knowledge of the safe operation and use of the Delta 880 required
  • Follow all safety regulations in regard to transportation, safe handling of exposure devices
  • Keep precise documentation of radiographic activities, including logs for materials, exposure settings, and outcomes
  • Prepare and calibrate exposure equipment, ensuring it operates correctly and adheres to safety regulations.
  • Conduct radiographic inspections using gamma‑ray or X‑ray equipment to detect defects in materials, parts, or structures
  • Responsible to adhere to all safety regulations and standards, and maintain safe work practices, particularly when handling radioactive substances and exposure equipment
  • Understand and complete work assignments as per company inspection procedures, in a timely, effective and competent manner
  • Complete field sketches as required in accordance with approved procedures
  • Maintain and utilize the shared equipment effectively, minimizing and preventing damage
  • Perform the scope of work to completion and satisfaction of the client
  • Understand local jurisdiction regulations in conducting job tasks
  • Report equipment maintenance/repair issues in accordance with company procedures for corrective action
  • Oversee repair and maintenance for equipment assigned and ensure related documentation is maintained
  • Record results of inspections and perform NDT methods and other operations
  • Responsible to adhere to all safety regulations, standards and maintain safe work practices
  • Responsible to report any unsafe work activities, hazards or concerns
  • Responsible to mentor and provide guidance to assistant crew members
  • Communicate with clients in a friendly, efficient and professional manner when interacting
  • Resolve client questions, concerns or complaints
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • CEDO Certification, with additional NDT certifications considered an asset
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience
  • Basic CR Techniques: Image acquisition, Image quality indicators (IQIs), Display of acquired images, Optimization of displayed image, Storage of acquired and optimized image
  • Experience with profile radiography and digital radiography
  • Must have the following valid safety certifications prior to employment: H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid, Common Safety Orientation (CSO), Confined Space Entry and Rescue, OSSA Fall Protection, and TDG Class 7
  • IRATA Rope Access certification Required
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work at high elevations
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. unassisted and to operate hand tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Read and write in English
  • Ability to collaborate on assignments
  • Experience working in confined spaces and working from heights
  • Strong attention to detail required to provide thorough inspection observations
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test prior to site deployment
