Job summary

Bar W Petroleum & Electric in Alberta is seeking a Calibration Technician to perform meter calibrations and repairs, reporting to the Service Manager. This role supports Retail/Commercial gas stations and bulk petroleum sites across Western Canada.

You'll work on-site and in-house, maintain strong customer relationships, and contribute to safety and quality procedures while documenting work accurately and timely. Travel for field service may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Mechanical or petroleum troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Must complete CPCA PM1 Training.
  • Ability to operate software, data entry and file transfers.
  • Knowledge of computerized machinery and hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid Class 5 license; clean driving abstract.
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education.
  • Maintain strong technical knowledge via on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and certify meters at service stations, cardlocks, bulk plants, fuel trucks and aviation metering equipment.
  • Perform general repairs of petroleum equipment for service areas in Western Canada and nearby regions.
  • Maintain customer relationships and plan tool/equipment needs for efficient work.
  • Contribute ideas for operational and technical improvements.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure safety practices per Health and Safety policies.

Job Summary
Are you interested in becoming a Calibration Technician or have experience in the downstream maintenance and or meter calibration, Well then BarW is the place for you! Reporting to the Service Manager you will be an integral part of our team performing meter calibrations and repairs. Working closely with our customers and applying BarW processes and regulations you will conduct in-house and on-site repairs to our customers’ businesses.

Our technicians specialize in the Retail/Commercial Gas Stations, Cardlock/Bulk Petroleum sites and Commercial/Industrial Electrical Services for Maintenance and Construction in Western Canada, Yukon & NWT.

What will you be doing?
  • This position entails the evaluation and/or certification of meters at retail service stations, cardlocks, bulk plants, fuel trucks and aviation metering equipment on behalf of Measurement Canada but not limited to. The position will also include general repairs of petroleum related equipment for the service area of Northern Alberta and B.C., N.W.T. and Yukon
  • Maintain customer relationships by managing allocated calls to improve service and decrease costs. This includes planning for adequate tools and equipment necessary for efficient work.
  • Contributing to new ideas for operational and technical improvements to existing equipment and technology.
  • Accountable for completing all required documentation correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure safe practices are being followed in accordance with Health and Safety policies and practices.
Are you qualified?
  • High school diploma.
  • Mechanical and petroleum troubleshooting or related industry experience (Would be an asset, willing to train the right candidate).
  • Will be required to complete and be certified in CPCA PM1 Training.
  • Ability to accurately operate software programs, formulas, data entry and file transfers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge about computerized machinery, as well as be efficient with hand tools.
  • Proven strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid Class 5 license (non GDL). Clean Drivers Abstract is required (Experience pulling trailers would be an asset)
  • Willingness and interest to pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance performance.
  • Ability to maintain a strong technical knowledge of assigned equipment through on the job training and training programs.

  • When scheduled - available to be on-call 24-hours and 7-days a week for service calls
