Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. in Calgary is seeking a Project Manager to oversee one or more projects in a safe and profitable manner, aligning with company strategy.

The role will manage projects up to $10M+ in the Calgary area and will be based out of the Quarry Park office, with daily travel to sites. You will lead safety plans, interpret drawings, prepare schedules, coordinate crews, and ensure contracts stay current with change orders.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree or diploma, or equivalent training and experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Project Manager, or civil construction roles.
• Knowledge of City of Calgary and surrounding area projects and specs.
• Experience with asphalt paving, concrete, earthworks, and underground construction.
• Ability to read construction drawings and documents.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
• Adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example, ensuring adherence to Aecon’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System.
• Develop, submit, and assess Health and Safety Plans, Environmental Construction Operating Plans, Quality Management Plans and Traffic Accommodation Strategies.
• Understand and interpret project estimates.
• Accurately interpret and comprehend contract drawings and specifications.
• Prepare work schedules and coordinate project staff.
• Provide onsite management of crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and all other resources to complete the job.
• Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and construction schedules.
• Ensure that contracts are kept current and updated with change orders on a regular basis.
• Track and understand daily, weekly, and monthly pay quantities and cost reports.
• Chair meetings and lead discussions with defined outcomes.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
