Job summary

JTM Cake Studio & Cafe in Cambridge, Ontario, is seeking a friendly part-time Cafe Team Member to join our small, welcoming team. You’ll greet guests, take orders, make drinks, and keep the shop looking vibrant while you grow with us.

This growth role trains from the front counter to kitchen and cake decorating, with mentorship as you learn every step of the business. If baking and decorating excite you, this is the path to build skills and a career in hospitality.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of customer service experience (cafe, retail, or food service preferred)
• Genuine interest in coffee, baking, and hospitality; training provided
• Strong multitasking skills and ability to stay organized in a fast-paced setting
• Attention to detail; the little things are the big things
• Team player with a positive, can-do attitude and excellent communication
• Comfortable on your feet and hands for a full shift; Food Handler Certification is a plus

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests, take orders, run POS, and provide exceptional customer service
• Prep and serve cafe drinks
• Package baked goods and keep display stocked and tidy
• Support light kitchen tasks and basic food prep as needed
• Keep the cafe guest-ready with clean counters, dishes, floors, and restocks
• Help with events/workshops (setup, reset, hosting support)
• Complete day-to-day operations without being told

POSITION OVERVIEW

We're seeking a part-time Cafe Team Member to join our small but mighty team! You'll start on the cafe side — greeting guests, making drinks, and keeping the shop running beautifully — with the opportunity to grow into kitchen and cake decorating work as you build skills with us.

This is a real growth role. We train from the front counter back, so the person who thrives here is someone who wants to learn the whole business — not just clock in and out. If baking and decorating are where you eventually want to be, this is how you get there.

What you’ll do:

• Welcome guests, take orders, run POS, and provide exceptional customer service
• Prep and serve cafe drinks
• Package baked goods and help keep the display stocked and tidy
• Support light kitchen tasks and basic food prep as needed
• Keep the café guest‑ready at all times (clean‑as‑you‑go: counters, dishes, floors, washrooms, restocks)
• Help with occasional events/workshops (set up, reset, hosting support)
• Complete day‑to‑day operations without being told

What you'll grow into (as you're ready):

• Decorating fundamentals — crumb coating, icing, piping, and finishing touches
• Prepping decorating components like buttercream, cake pops, and toppers

Qualifications:

• 1–2 years of customer service experience (cafe, retail, or food service preferred)
• Genuine interest in coffee, baking, and/or hospitality (experience is a bonus but not required — we'll train the right person!)
• Strong multitasking skills and the ability to stay organized in a fast‑paced setting!
• Attention to detail — in this business, the little things ARE the big things
• Team player with a positive, can‑do attitude!
• Exceptional communication skills
• Comfortable on your feet and working with your hands for a full shift
• Food Handler Certification is an asset (or willingness to get certified — we'll help!)
• Flexible schedule, a more concrete schedule will be developed once we get a sense of what works best for all of us!
