Job summary

Longboard Architectural Products in Abbotsford, BC, is seeking a Manufacturing Technologist to provide CAD design and drafting support for manufacturing improvements. The role is 80% CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and 20% hands-on floor work, with a path toward CI activities.

You will report to the CI Manager and collaborate with Operations to translate needs into manufacturable designs, including jigs, fixtures, and layouts.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including creating detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, particularly for 2D drawings and layouts.
• 5–8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving mechanical design and CAD documentation.
• Experience applying Design for Manufacturability principles in a production environment.
• Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering and Design for Manufacturability principles to develop mechanical solutions that improve manufacturing processes, safety, repeatability, and efficiency.
• Translate measurements, sketches, and directions into detailed 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Create and update technical drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Design manufacturing aids such as jigs and fixtures.
• Support implementation and validation on the production floor.
