Job summary

Octave seeks a CAD System Consultant to lead the implementation of our computer-aided dispatch solutions for public safety agencies. You will design, configure, and deploy solutions, collaborating with project managers, technical leads, and customers to meet operational needs.

The role is highly collaborative and customer-facing, with up to 50–60% travel across North America, and responsibilities include training end-users and supporting go-live activities.

Qualifications

• A degree in the Sciences, Computer Sciences, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience related to technical application development.
• Demonstrated success in at least four areas: end-user training, requirements definition, leading technical tasks, customer relations, presentations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead customer workshops to gather requirements across public safety environments.
• Design and configure complex workflows aligned to operations and approved FDDs.
• Lead data modeling and data conversion activities as needed.
• Perform configuration, installation, and deployment of Octave’s COTS products.
• Support database administration activities and ensure environment readiness.
• Provide SME guidance in customer engagements and best-practice recommendations.
• Lead user training and train-the-trainer sessions; support go-live and post-production.
• Track time and project activities; maintain clear status updates.

Job description

Octave is seeking a CAD System Consultant to lead the implementation of our computer aided dispatch solutions for public safety agencies. This role is critical to delivering mission-critical technology that supports emergency response operations and community safety.

The CAD System Consultant operates as a key member of a delivery pod, working closely with Project Managers, Technical Leads, and customers to design, configure, and deploy solutions that align with real-world operational needs. This is a highly collaborative, customer-facing role with travel requirements of up to 50-60%, depending on project needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead customer workshops to gather operational, technical, and workflow requirements across public safety environments
• Design and configure complex workflows aligned to public safety operations and approved Functional Design Documents (FDDs)
• Lead simple data modeling and data conversion activities
• Perform complex configuration, installation, and deployment of Octave’s COTS products
• Support and occasionally lead database administration activities, including data validation and environment readiness
• Act as a subject matter expert in customer-facing engagements, providing guidance on best practices and operational alignment
• Lead and support customer acceptance testing, including issue resolution and validation of system functionality
• Lead end-user, train-the-trainer, and system administration training
• Ensure system configuration aligns with approved Functional Design Documents (FDDs) and project scope
• Collaborate with Technical Leads and Project Managers to ensure solution quality, scope alignment, and delivery progress
• Support go-live, stabilization, and post-production activities as required
• Provide clear and consistent status updates and documentation to support project tracking and transparency
• Accurately track time and project activities in alignment with delivery expectations
• Other duties as assigned

Education / Qualifications

• A degree in the Sciences, Computer Sciences, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience related to technical application development
• Demonstrated success in a minimum of 4 of the following areas (pre-requisites for this level):
• Delivery of end-user training sessions on Octave software
• Creation of functional requirements definition and analysis activities
• Having lead technical tasks within a project team on more than one occasion, for a system which is being used in production
• Having demonstrated ability to build good relationships with customers
• Delivery of customer presentations, or training to a small to medium size audience
• Ability to interact effectively with customers and build and maintain positive customer relations
• Consistently displays positive teamwork behaviors in line with Octave culture, including: reliability, effective and respectful communication & listening skills, proactive sharing of knowledge, cooperation and flexibility in approach and work style, and showing commitment to the team.
• PSAP or field operations experience highly desired.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills as it relates to conveying technical information internally and externally
• Shares knowledge and assists others in the completion of their tasks to support team goals
• Understands and is able to articulate the business priorities of the professional services organization
• Engages in complex problem-solving exercise utilizing independent or team problem-solving skills
• Up to 50% travel required within North America
