Job summary

SLR Consulting (Canada) seeks a motivated CAD/GIS Technician to support environmental and engineering projects across Canada. This hybrid role blends CAD drafting and GIS data management with mapping and analytics.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or post-secondary education in CAD, GIS, geography, or related field.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Map3D.
  • Strong proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS software.
  • Ability to process survey datasets and develop DTMs.
  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering drawings and environmental figures with Civil 3D/Map 3D.
  • Process survey data and build digital terrain models (DTMs).
  • Prepare plan sets with surfaces, alignments, profiles.
  • Support design tasks for environmental restoration projects.
  • Provide mapping and spatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro.
  • Maintain environmental databases and relational datasets.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Canada.
  • Ensure deliverables meet quality and project requirements.

We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 1000+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 20+ office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. Role

We are seeking a highly motivated CAD/GIS Technician to support a variety of environmental and engineering projects across Canada. This hybrid role blends detailed CAD drafting and design responsibilities with GIS data management, mapping, and analytical support.

Responsibilities
  • Develop engineering drawings and environmental figures using Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D and ESRI Arc GIS pro.
  • Process survey data and build digital terrain models (DTMs).
  • Prepare engineering plan sets including surfaces, alignments, and profiles.
  • Support design tasks for environmental restoration projects.
  • Provide mapping and spatial analysis using ESRI ArcGIS Arc Pro.
  • Maintain environmental databases and relational datasets.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Canada.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications / Education / Memberships
  • Diploma or post-secondary education in CAD, GIS, geography, engineering technology, or related field.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Map3D.
  • Strong proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS software.
  • Ability to process survey datasets and develop DTMs.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • 4 plus years of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with QGIS.
  • Advanced Excel and Access skills.
  • Experience with Infraworks.
  • Experience working in environmental consulting.
