Job summary

Woodrose Woodworking Inc. in Vancouver, BC, is seeking a skilled cabinetmaker to join a custom millwork shop. You will operate woodworking machines, shape surfaces, and study plans to produce built-in units, doors, and millwork.

The role includes training apprentices in a fast-paced shop environment. Applicants should hold a Registered Apprenticeship certificate with at least five years of experience or equivalent experience, and be able to work with CAD/CAM tools and heavy hand tools.

• Ability to operate machinery and hand tools.

Tasks

• Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components
• Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
• Instruct apprentices
• Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems
• Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints
• Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics
• Maintain clean and safe work environment
