Job summary

Canadian Standard Cabinets Ltd. in Edmonton is seeking a skilled cabinetmaker to join our shop floor and produce high-quality cabinetry. The role requires operating woodworking machines to cut and shape parts, fitting joints, and finishing surfaces with veneers, stains or polishes.

You will study plans and specifications, estimate materials, and help repair or restyle furniture as needed. A detail-oriented, organized team player is essential for 35-hour weeks with potential evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation is required.
• Experience operating woodworking machinery is preferred.
• Ability to read plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate woodworking machines to cut, shape and form parts.
• Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools.
• Study plans, specifications or drawings to be made.
• Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies to form a complete unit.
• Sand surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish; prepare laminated plastics.
• Apply varnish or polish to finished products.
• Estimate costs and materials.
• Repair or restyle wooden furniture and fixtures.

• * Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.

• * Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints
• * Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics
