Job summary

Woodrose Woodworking Inc in Vancouver, BC is seeking an experienced cabinetmaker/joiner to operate woodworking machines, read plans, and assemble millwork projects in a custom shop.

You will supervise apprentices, use CAD/CADD and other software, ensure safety, and maintain a clean work environment in a fast-paced shop setting.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or equivalent woodworking training.
• Minimum 5 years of woodworking experience.
• Ability to read plans and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components.
• Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
• Instruct apprentices.
• Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made.
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems.
• Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints.
• Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.
