Job description

Reporting to the Manager of Indirect Purchasing, the Buyer-Storekeeper is responsible for supplying spare parts (including inventory), indirect supplies, and external labor for our Toronto and Calgary plants, following corporate contracts, agreements, and policies.

He/she collaborates with local maintenance teams and other departments (Quality, R&D, HR, etc.) to address daily needs and emergencies, with a focus on cost reduction.

Key activities

  • Manage MRP of spare parts inventory.
  • Supply consumables used by maintenance/operations.
  • Process one-time requests from departments.
  • Follow up with requesters and suggest cost-effective alternatives.
  • Track late/past due orders weekly.
  • Update supplier information and associations.
  • Source new supply options.
  • Record receipts and dispatch goods.
  • Verify order quantities and specifications upon delivery.
  • Ensure stock compliance with specifications.
  • Return nonconforming or broken goods and seek credits.
  • Manage cycle counts, resolve discrepancies, and conduct annual stock tracking.
  • Standardize stock materials to avoid duplicates and reduce levels.
  • Remove unwanted materials after equipment modifications and seek credits.
  • Maintain organized storeroom.
  • Analyze inventory and optimize turnover, reducing dead stock and slow movers.
  • Approve new materials and initiate creation.
  • Generate and analyze procurement and inventory KPIs.
  • Participate in inventory management improvements at the corporate level.

Required training and experience

  • Minimum 5 years in supply chain/stock management.
  • Knowledge of spare parts.
  • Proficiency in English; French is an asset.
  • Computer skills: Office Suite (especially Excel) and procurement software.
