Job summary

Timberland Equipment Limited in Woodstock, Canada, is seeking a procurement professional to support manufacturing operations. You will review requisitions, solicit quotes, negotiate contracts, and coordinate shipments with internal teams and external vendors.

The ideal candidate has purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple supplier relationships with urgency and strategic thinking.

Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating steel and outside vendors is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and prioritization ability.

Responsibilities

  • Review all requisitions and product or service demands for completeness, description, approval, delivery date and account numbers.
  • Solicit quotations and ensure appropriate credit is received.
  • Direct and procure vendor technical and operating expertise as required to internal personnel.
  • Negotiate, place orders and enter into contracts for procurement as necessary to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Negotiate competitive freight rates.
  • Develop sourcing strategies.
  • Contact suppliers to follow up on material progress and shipments.
  • Coordinate shipments and monitor delivery schedules.
  • Review and approve supplier invoices against purchase orders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Review all requisitions and product or service demands for completeness, description, appropriate approval, delivery date and account numbers
  • Solicit quotations and ensure appropriate credit is received
  • Direct and procure vendor technical and operating expertise as required to appropriate internal personnel
  • Negotiate, place orders and enter into contracts for procurement as necessary for required materials and services to ensure timely delivery
  • Negotiation competitive freight rates
  • Develop sourcing strategies
  • Contact supplier to follow-up on material and components, production progress and shipments
  • Coordinate shipments and monitor delivery schedules and shipment
  • Review and approve supplier invoices for material deliveries against purchase order requirements
  • Review material receiving reports against shipping documents to verify all material has been received per purchase order
