Job summary

HYDMECH, a leader in industrial sawing solutions, is seeking a Buyer to manage procurement activities from demand planning through delivery. You will issue POs, monitor supplier performance, and coordinate with engineering, production and quality teams to improve cost and supply reliability.

The role requires 3+ years in purchasing in manufacturing, SAP experience, and strong analytical skills. Onsite position at 239 Beards Lane, Ontario, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in manufacturing.
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management or CSCP is an asset.
  • Experience managing suppliers and coordinating domestic and international procurement.

  • Issue purchase orders based on SAP planning signals, Kanban replenishment, requisitions, and MRO requirements.

About the Opportunity!

This existing vacancy reports to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for managing supplier relationships and ensuring the reliable supply of materials and services that support production and customer delivery.

This role balances daily purchasing execution with supplier performance management, working closely with internal stakeholders to improve cost, delivery, and supply reliability.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Manage procurement activities for assigned commodities from demand planning through delivery
  • Issue purchase orders based on SAP planning signals, Kanban replenishment, requisitions, and MRO operational requirements
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively address risks related to lead time, delivery, quality, and capacity
  • Evaluate supplier pricing, capabilities, and lead times to support sourcing and cost improvement initiatives
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve supply and technical issues
  • Expedite critical orders and coordinate recovery plans for supply disruptions
  • Maintain accurate MRP data including lead times, country of origin, and tariff classifications
  • Resolve vendor receiving discrepancies, invoice variances, and non-conforming material issues with suppliers
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve purchasing efficiency and supplier reliability
  • Analyze and resolve discrepancies between SAP S4 and physical inventory quantities; recommends corrective actions to avoid similar errors in the future.
  • Searches Engineering records and documents to locate drawings, specifications and order information.
WHAT DO YOU BRING?
  • 3+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management or a professional certification such as CSCP is an asset
  • Experience managing suppliers and coordinating domestic and international procurement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery priorities
  • Comfortable working in an ERP/MRP environment; SAP experience is an asset
  • Strong financial acumen: budget development, cost control.
  • Proven communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills when working with suppliers and internal teams
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making
  • Adaptable with a growth mindset and willingness to learn, grow and develop
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or within a team setting.
  • Aptitude for critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making

The Ontario pay range for this position is $ 65,000 to $70,000 annually, prorated for the term of the contract. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider the successful candidate's experience, skills, knowledge, and other job-related factors.
