Job summary

Alstom is seeking a Buyer to play a pivotal role in our sourcing and procurement teams. You will support global supplier panels, manage relationships, and help drive cost optimization across projects.

You will coordinate commodity needs on site, participate in tender phases, and report to the Project Sourcing Manager. A Business/Engineering background and 2–5 years of industry experience are required, with fluency in French and English.

Responsibilities

  • Support global supplier panel relationships.
  • Manage supplier panel relationships, negotiations, and agreements.
  • Monitor day-to-day supplier performance and issues.
  • Escalate issues to line manager when needed.
  • Ensure adherence to Alstom Transport code of ethics.
  • Coordinate commodity needs and participate in strategy.
  • Prepare RFQ and ensure work package commitments.
  • Support Project Sourcing Manager and report weekly.

Deploy of commodities strategy. Ensure project execution in line with QCDT objectives. Support global supplier Panel relationship (Supplier workload, negotiation, Specific agreement).


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Support global supplier panel relationship
  • Manage specific supplier panel relationship (negociation, specific agreement, local supplier QCDT performances)
  • Monitor day to day suppliers performances and issues
  • Management of initial issues before escalation to line manager
  • Respect Alstom Transport code of ethics and guidelines

Commodity support on site:

  • Consolidation of commodity needs, inputs
  • Active participation to commodity strategy and panel elaboration
  • Provide inputs to build differentiation
  • Support of Commodity Manager in tender phase
  • Represent the commodities towards projects, platforms and solutions.
  • Effective teamwork with internal customers and stakeholders in problem solving
  • Apply the Alstom Transport Sourcing process, and provide return on experience.

Involvement in projects:

  • Coordinate project with all Metiers
  • Preparation and launch of Request For Quotation with suppliers using the standard tool
  • Ensure work package sheet commitment respect
  • Prepare Business Award

Support the PrSM (Project Sourcing Manager)

  • Participate to the project management committee
  • Manage the Change request: concatenate the needs and quotation, challenge the stakeholders to allow cost optimization
  • Ensure the QCD application of these modification in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Report on Claims
  • Prepare weekly reporting

As our ideal candidate:


  • You have Business school or Engineering degree
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in industry
  • Good interpersonal skills (leadership and communication)
  • You are fluent in French & English

Knowledge of a language other than French is an asset when dealing with our international partners, suppliers, colleagues and customers. In Quebec, French remains the main working language of our company.
