Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role

Schedule: 14 days in & 14 days off Fly in and Fly out OR ( open to 5 days in / 2 days off & 4 days in / 3 days off if the candidate is local resident)

Position Reports To: Procurement Supervisor

Position Overview

To provide professional procurement services in the economical sourcing and purchasing of materials and services for operational requirements at the mine site. This role will have a direct impact on the costs and profitability of New Gold Inc.’s Rainy River mine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procure goods and services in accordance with customer and operational requirements as per company policies and procedures. Negotiate pricing, delivery and payment terms. Place in accordance the appropriate purchase orders.
  • Investigate and develop supply sources.
  • Assist with contracting activities. This includes, but is not limited to market analysis, spend analysis, consumption analysis, customer liaison, vendor liaison, tendering process, tender evaluation and selection, and customer acceptance.
  • Expedite orders to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with both internal customers and external suppliers.
  • Complete spend and market analysis on key commodities and identify site contract opportunities. Arranging transport of goods and tracking orders to ensure timely delivery. Understanding the target market and analysing trends to make informed buying decisions.
  • Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom. Monitor the stock quality and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
  • Other related duties to support the team as required to ensure the Rainy River Procurement is a success.

Qualifications

  • Three years prior experience in purchasing within an industrial environment or an equivalent & relevant educational background.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Supply Chain operations, contract management, and sourcing within the supply operations of a large resource company.
  • Procurement or Supply Chain certification. Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field would be an asset.
  • Excellent mathematical and evaluation skills are required with strong commercial acumen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Strong negotiation skills and familiarity with contract law.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience using SAP / Ariba or other ERP systems would be a strong asset.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft office and high level of competency in spread sheet creation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and produce high quality work within time constraints.
  • Good judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated success in building trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the local community, indigenous groups, employees, colleagues, and service providers/contractors
