Job summary

Aurora Cannabis Inc. is seeking a Buyer to manage procurement for cannabis materials and to maintain inventory for manufacturing and product development.

The role emphasizes strong vendor relationships, KPI-driven performance, and cross-functional collaboration with operations, QA and commercial teams. The successful candidate will leverage ERP systems and BI tools to optimize cost, quality, and supply continuity while meeting scheduling targets.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of cannabis procurement experience.
  • Degree in business or related certification (SCMP, CIPS, CPIM, CPSM).
  • Experience with ERP systems and data analysis.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Tactically replenish cannabis to optimize facility and commercial operations.
  • Issue purchase orders to suppliers with accurate vendor, product, and cost information.
  • Maintain inventory levels within min / max targets set by Sr. Buyer.
  • Ensure supplier compliance on KPIs (fill rate, on time delivery and PO order lead times).
  • Immediately resolve purchase order discrepancies.
  • Escalate and obtain resolution on supplier quality related incidents in a timely fashion
  • Resolve issues related to supplier non-compliance on warehouse receiving paperwork.
  • Tracks spend approvals for all purchase orders ensuring alignment with DOA (delegation of authority) matrix
  • Expedite purchase orders where necessary to meet scheduling and product launch requirements.
  • Communicate order status exceptions, contract obligations, and post-receipt actions to all internal cross functional stakeholders.
  • Ensure optimized purchase order management which supports production schedules, suppliers’ price break points and storage restrictions.

Job summary

The Buyer is responsible for tactically replenish and maintain adequate inventory levels of cannabis to support manufacturing and product development. The successful candidate will be able to perform procurement activities while meeting KPIs. Strong vendor relationship management and a process improvement approach will be among the pillars for success. The buyer will report to the Sr. Buyer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tactically replenish cannabis to optimize facility and commercial operations.

  • Maintain inventory levels within min / max targets set by Sr. Buyer.

Strategically engage with supplier community and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrate excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Identify and resolve risks to supply continuity.
  • Build and support strong long-term relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify waste and seek opportunities for cost reduction in the supply chain.
  • Provide ad hoc reports as required.
Work cross-functionally with commercial, operations & QA to source and develop new materials sources
  • This will include coordinating both the product qualifications & vendor set up activity.
  • Ensuring all cross functional team needs are recognized and met.

Education, Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in cannabis procurement.
  • Degree in business or certification in supply chain or related discipline (SCMP, CIPS, CPIM, CPSM)
  • 2+ years in production or manufacturing environment would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication, time management skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Excel at working independently and with exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Computer literate with exceptional skills in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to create and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Worked with Sage X3 or other ERP systems, Microsoft Power Bi, Smartsheet, or other analytical tools
