Job summary

Raise is seeking a Buyer for a 12-month contract onsite in Calgary, AB T2P 0G4. The role processes requisitions, converts them to purchase orders, collects vendor proposals, and conducts simple price/terms negotiations.

You will liaise with the strategic buyer on project purchases, help resolve invoice discrepancies, and maintain purchase orders to support timely payments. Required: a Mechanical degree and a P.Eng.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a P.Eng. license or be able to secure one before their start date.
  • Degree in Mechanical
  • Downhole tool, metrology experience is preferred.
  • Specialization in materials science or experience is preferred.
  • Design or drafting experience is preferred.
  • Behavioral Skills: adapts, analytical, collaborates, communicates effectively, focus on customers.
  • Functional Skills: Procure-to-Pay knowledge, system utilization & efficiency, total system cost, apply controls mindset, contract development, contract management, negotiating and influencing, relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Processes a queue of requisitions and converts to purchase orders on a daily basis.
  • Collects written proposals from vendors as needed.
  • Conducts simple negotiations of pricing and general terms & conditions.
  • Addresses invoice discrepancies from the purchase order or the goods receipt and approves invoice payment for any additional freight costs not accounted for on purchase order.
  • Liaises with the strategic buyer regarding project or turnaround purchases and potential bundles
  • Provides support to ensure timely invoice payment.
  • Handles any PO maintenance for orders processed (e.g. update PO text, update delivery date, etc.)
