Job summary

Concorde Group in Calgary is seeking a part-time busser to keep tables and surfaces clean and organized, assist where needed, and help guests enjoy a positive dining experience in a fast-paced environment.

The role includes an hourly wage of CAD 15, gratuities, duty meals, and benefits eligibility after 28+ hours/week. Pro Serve and WHMIS training can be obtained within 30 days of joining.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant experience preferred.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Well organized with attention to detail and good time management.
• Fluent English in written and spoken form.
• WHMIS and Pro Serve certifications required or obtainable within 30 days of joining.

Responsibilities

• Clear and reset tables after guests depart.
• Wipe spills and keep tables clean and tidy.
• Maintain organized and clean restaurant surfaces.
• Assist bartenders as needed.
• Assist with bar prep: syrups, infusions, garnishes, carbonation, batching cocktails.
• Stock supplies and retrieve ice, polish cutlery, run food, clear tables, take payments.
• Greet guests and provide friendly, efficient service.
• Support team to ensure smooth restaurant operations as directed.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Palace is looking for bussers to fill out their team on a part-time permanent basis. The busser is responsible for several key functions in the successful operation of the bar, including keeping tables and surface areas clean and organized, assisting where needed, and ensuring patrons are enjoying their time in a clean environment. WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Remove used glasses, cans, etc. from tables after patrons are done.
• Wipe up water spills, food stains and dirt from tables.
• Ensure all furniture is organized and tidy.
• Assisting bartenders when needed.
• Lift and cut 25lb blocks of ice to specifications set by the Regional Bar Manager using a bandsaw..
• Assist bar staff in setting up the restaurant, including the preparation of syrups, infusions, garnishes, carbonating, and batching cocktails
• Help maintain cleanliness & order of all restaurant surfaces.
• Assist staff in maintaining and stocking supplies including but not limited to: retrieving ice, polishing cutlery, running food, clearing tables and taking payments.
• Efficiently clear and clean tables to facilitate guest turnover.
• Welcome and greet guests as they enter the establishment.
• Be ready to answer any questions about food, beverages or other restaurant functions and services.
• Be ready and willing to provide support as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the head of prep.
• Execute any other tasks required.

WHAT YOU HAVE

• Previous restaurant experience is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with ability to establish and develop relationships with employees, partners, vendors, and customers.
• Well organized with a strong attention to detail and exceptional time management.
• Ability to fluently communicate in both written and verbal English.
• Must have a basic knowledge of the dining room, service procedures and functions.
• Possesses basic math skills, can handle money, and operate a point-of-sale system.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
• Comfortability with large crowds.
• Experience in working late nights.
• Pro Serve Certification required but can be obtained within 30 days of joining.
• WHMIS Certification is required but can be obtained once hired.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
• Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds.
• Must be over 18 as alcohol service and open scheduling availability is a requirement.
