Job summary

The City of Prince Albert is seeking a motivated Business Systems Analyst to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business systems supporting core organizational functions. You will gather and analyze data for business cases, projects, and system requirements, and deliver end-user training and troubleshooting for integrated applications.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in computer science or MIS.
• Five (5) years proven experience in overseeing design, development and implementation of software and hardware solutions.
• Business analysis certification preferred.
• Extensive experience with core software apps including Financials, Payroll, Work Management and Document Management.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and create SQL queries and reports using Power BI, SPSS or other reporting software.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is an asset.
• Financial ERP and SQL Server experience preferred.
• Technical experience with networks and servers is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Define and map business requirements with decision makers, process owners, stakeholders and end users.
• Lead design sessions to prototype new systems and processes.
• Lead IT projects for new implementations, system enhancements and upgrades.
• Identify business system goals and develop solutions to meet them.
• Perform cost-benefit and ROI analyses for proposed systems and enhancements.
• Develop system and end-user documentation.
• Deliver training for modified and new systems.
• Analyze proposed and existing systems to ensure they meet business needs.
• Identify trouble areas in systems and recommend action.
• Suggest strategies to evolve and leverage existing systems.
• Ensure compatibility of in-house computing systems.
• Provide end-user support to identify and resolve system issues.

Education

Diploma or degree in computer science or management information systems

Five (5) years proven experience in design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions

Business analysis certification

Extensive experience with core software applications (Financials, Payroll, Work Management, Document Management)

Position Overview:

The City of Prince Albert has an opportunity available for a motivated individual to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This permanent, full-time, position has responsibility for gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. The Business Systems Analyst is also responsible for the delivery of support and training to the end users including troubleshooting of all business applications and their integrations. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments. The individual will focus on developing and promoting innovative and creative technology ideas and processes for functions throughout the organization.

• Analyze proposed and existing business systems to ensure they meet business needs.
• Identify potential trouble areas in business systems across the organization and recommend appropriate action.
• Recommend strategies to evolve and further leverage existing business systems.
• Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.

Operational Management:

• Ensure business systems are appropriately maintained and updated.
• Provide end user support to identify and resolve system issues.
