Job summary

Canada Life is seeking a Business Solutions Developer to design, implement, and maintain automated workflows using Power Automate and Power Apps. You will collaborate with stakeholders, translate requirements into scalable, secure solutions, and provide ongoing production support.

The role emphasizes governance, continuous learning, and teamwork across locations. A strong background in Power Platform and MS365, plus bilingual capability in Quebec, are valuable assets.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience developing Power Platform solutions.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent.
  • Strong MS365 knowledge (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook).
  • Experience with Dataverse, connectors, and data integration.
  • DB2 experience and SQL/ETL/API data access.
  • Ability to work independently and with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail to maximize quality and minimize rework.
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps is an asset.
  • Microsoft Power Platform certifications encouraged.
  • Experience with other automation tools (Logic Apps, UI flows).
  • Exposure to Azure and cloud environments.
  • Bilingualism is an asset; for Quebec, English/French; required for client service in French/English.
  • Security clearance process and willingness to obtain.
  • Interest in learning and applying new Power Platform technologies.

Join the Automated Solutions team and help build, enhance, and support solutions that deliver functional value to our business partners. As a Business Solutions Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining solutions using Microsoft Power Platform tools, including Power Automate and Power Apps.

We are seeking a quick learner who is resourceful and passionate about automation and low-code development. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering automation solutions to address business process challenges. They will be creative, thrive in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning to stay ahead of emerging technologies.

What you will do
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated workflows using Power Automate
  • Build and support custom business applications using Power Apps
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable, secure solutions
  • Provide ongoing support for production processes, identifying fixes or workarounds for defects
  • Document processes, configurations, and best practices
  • Help establish governance for the Automation Solutions team
  • Build relationships with colleagues to facilitate cooperation among peers and within the team
  • Stay current with Power Platform updates and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in collaborative engagements to recommend and implement enhancements to existing solutions
What you will bring
  • 2+ years of experience developing solutions with Power Platform tools (Power Automate, Power Apps)
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience with Dataverse, connectors, and data integration
  • Experience with database systems (e.g. DB2) and data access methods (e.g. SQL, ETL, API)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of work to maximize quality and avoid re-work
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is an asset
  • Microsoft Power Platform certifications
  • Experience with other automation tools (e.g., Logic Apps, UI flows)
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, PowerShell, VBA)
  • Experience with governance and security best practices in Power Platform
  • Exposure to cloud environments such as Azure
  • A strong desire to learn and apply new technologies within the Power Platform ecosystem
  • The ability to contribute to the success of the Automated Solutions team through influence, collaboration, and accountability
  • A passion for improving business processes through automation and innovation
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism is an asset (fluent in French and English) but is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients with French and English speaking needs
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: London, Montreal, Regina, Toronto, Winnipeg

The base salary for this position is between $62,800 - $104,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
