Supporting Albertans since 1954, Apex operates over 21,000 km of natural gas pipelines and over 600 pressure and regulating stations through a network of 16 district offices. If you share our passion for these values and are eager to make a meaningful impact, we invite you to join our dedicated team.

What You Will Do:

As the Supervisor, Business Development, you will play a key leadership role in advancing Apex’s customer growth and community relationships. In this position, you will lead work that connects customers, communities, and internal teams. You will build and maintain strategic relationships with new and existing customers, franchisees, and large-volume customers while supporting the planning and execution of customer contracts and franchise agreement processes. You will help identify emerging opportunities, nurture potential customers, and support strategic planning that contributes to sustainable customer growth.

This role includes preparing economic evaluations, business cases, and related financial reporting to help assess project feasibility and inform sound decision-making. It will also lead quality control and continuous improvement initiatives across new business processes, ensuring customers receive the best possible customer experience.

As part of the Business Development team, you will also be an ambassador for Apex in the communities we serve by supporting Apex’s sponsorship program and representing the company at community events, networking functions, and industry activities.

What You Will Bring:

  • University degree in a relevant business or financial discipline.
  • More than five years of experience in the utility industry.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in business development.
  • Experience managing customer escalations and resolving complex issues.
  • Experience preparing economic evaluations and developing business cases and decision documents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Good understanding of Alberta's natural gas utility industry, regulatory framework, and construction processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Experience with Customer Information Systems and Customer Relationship Management tools such as Salesforce is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License and an acceptable driver's abstract.
  • Ability to travel within Apex's operating territory, typically 15-25% throughout the year, with occasional travel outside the region and some evening or weekend commitments for industry or community events.
