About Able Innovations:

At Able Innovations, we are redefining how patients are moved in healthcare environments. Our powered transfer platform enables smoother, safer and more dignified patient mobility - empowering healthcare teams and protecting caregivers from injury.

We are currently active in hospitals across Canada and growing throughout North America. As we expand, we are looking for a high-energy, exceptionally organized Business Development Specialist who can help us build relationships, advance strategic opportunities, and support our partners in the field.

About the role:

Are you an outgoing commercial professional who enjoys building relationships, owning complex projects, and working directly with customers? Able Innovations is seeking a dynamic individual to join our commercial team and help drive our next stage of growth.

As a Business Development Specialist, you will work across sales, partnerships, customer success, strategic applications, and on-site hospital activities. One week, you may be developing a proposal or managing a major grant submission. The next, you may be travelling to a hospital to support a demonstration, deployment, training session, or executive meeting.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of sales, strategic execution and human connection.

This role is based in Toronto, ON, with extensive local, regional, and cross-border travel to healthcare facilities throughout Canada and the USA. You will represent Able Innovations in front of key stakeholders and partners.

Why join Able Innovations?
  • Commercial Exposure: Gain broad experience across sales, partnerships, grants, customer success, and healthcare commercialization.
  • Meaningful Impact: See your work contribute directly to safer hospital workflows and better experiences for patients and caregivers.
  • High Ownership: Work directly with company leadership and take responsibility for important opportunities and applications.
  • Growth Opportunity: Build a pathway toward account ownership and more senior commercial responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Business Development: Research and identify prospective customers, strategic partners, funding programs, and new market opportunities.
  • Customer Outreach: Support engagement with hospitals, health systems, clinical leaders, executives, distributors, and industry partners.
  • Relationship Building: Develop genuine relationships with stakeholders at every level, from frontline healthcare professionals to senior executives.
  • Sales Coordination: Coordinate sales meetings, product demonstrations, site visits, conferences, and follow-up activities.
  • Commercial Materials: Prepare proposals, presentations, quotations, customer materials, and partnership documents.
  • Opportunity Management: Keep opportunities moving by ensuring follow-ups, commitments, and next steps are completed and accurately documented.
  • Strategic Applications: Lead and coordinate grant, government funding, accelerator, procurement, partnership, and innovation-program applications.
  • Deadline Ownership: Maintain a clear calendar of submission deadlines, required materials, reporting obligations, and milestones.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Gather and organize input from commercial, finance, engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Application Development: Draft, edit, and submit clear, accurate, and compelling applications and supporting documents.
  • On-Site Support: Support hospital demonstrations, deployments, evaluations, training sessions, conferences, and customer meetings.
  • Field Coordination: Help coordinate on-site schedules, equipment, documentation, logistics, and internal resources.
  • Customer Feedback: Gather field observations and customer feedback and communicate them clearly to internal teams.
  • Adoption and Expansion: Identify barriers to adoption, opportunities to improve customer workflows, and areas where Able can add further value.
You will be successful if you are:
  • Outgoing, confident, and energized by meeting new people.
  • Highly organized and exceptionally attentive to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities without losing track of commitments.
  • A clear communicator who is comfortable with frontline staff, managers, and executives.
