Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Business Development & Sales Manager to play a key role in driving new business and growing client relationships. This senior sales position focuses on hands-on selling and business development, including prospecting, quoting, closing sales, and collaborating closely with Business Development & Sales Associates to support their efforts. While this role does not include formal staff management responsibilities, it involves providing guidance and strategic input to the sales team, helping shape business growth tactics and account development strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively generate new business by offering tailored security systems, including CCTV, access control, intercom, intrusion detection, and master key systems.
- Generate and maintain a strong sales pipeline by engaging with real decision-makers, assessing their needs, communicating our value proposition, and setting clear decision timelines.
- Collaborate with Business Development & Sales Associates to support pipeline development, customer follow-up, and sales execution.
- Lead the creation of accurate, professional, and timely quotes and customer proposals, incorporating pricing, scope, timelines, and a business value proposition.
- Present proposals to clients and decision-makers, addressing objections and closing deals confidently in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with internal team members, including project managers, leadership, and technicians to develop winning, technically sound solutions that align with customer goals and timelines.
- Provide sales support and mentorship to Business Development & Sales Associates, offering feedback, guidance, coaching, and best practices to enhance overall team performance.
- Contribute to the development of sales strategies, account plans, and market insights to help drive business growth.
- Represent Principal Access Security at client meetings, site visits, industry events, and trade shows to generate new opportunities and strengthen client and vendor relationships.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of sales activities, account status, and pipeline opportunities using internal reporting tools.
- Support post-sale handoff and coordination with project management team to ensure alignment and client satisfaction.
- Maintain professional and responsive communication with clients, ensuring a high standard of service and trust.
- Continuously build product and industry knowledge through self-directed learning and manufacturer training.
Required Experience/Skills
- 3+ years of B2B sales experience in the security systems industry. We’re looking for someone who understands the products, the pace, and the process of selling integrated security solutions.
- Demonstrated success managing full-cycle sales and consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
- Proven ability to create accurate and detailed quotes and customer proposals.
- Comfortable discussing technical solutions and translating complex concepts into clear, end-user friendly language.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Proficiency with computer systems and software (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Valid G-class driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel within the GTA (and occasionally beyond) and attend in-person meetings and job sites.
Nice-to-Haves
- Prior experience in the security systems industry or working with products from brands such as Avigilon, Software House, American Dynamics, HID, DSC, Paradox, Kantech, or similar.
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, or a technical field related to electronics or security systems.
- Familiarity with public tender processed and commercial project cycles.
- Experience coaching or informally mentoring junior team members.
- Knowledge of construction industry workflows or working with general contractors.
- Professional certifications are an asset, including: ASIS certifications like PSP (Physical Security Professional), CPP (Certified Security Professional), or APP (Associate Security Professional), CSPM (Certified Security Project Manager) – an asset for candidates with experience bridging sales and project delivery, and/or manufacturer certifications (e.g. Avigilon, CCURE, etc.)
- Strong professional network in the physical security, construction, or property management sectors.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, or a technical field related to electronics or security systems preferred.
